This presentation discusses the issue of balancing and active research and grant agenda with excellent teaching. Are they necessarily opposed? Can faculty do both?
Dr. German Rosas-Acosta’s research is focused on furthering our understanding of the interactions established between the cellular SUMOylation system of the host cell and various viral pathogens, with special emphasis on influenza virus, with the ultimate goal of developing novel broad-spectrum antiviral therapies.
He has brought approximately 1.8 million dollars in research funding to UTEP. In addition, he is also a UTEP Distinguished Professor and a recipiient of the UT Outstanding Teaching Award.
